1st MP In-House Contest 2011 – Omni Mecha: Crossover

Mechapinoy would like to announce it’s first In-House Contest for 2011 - Omni Mecha: Crossover! Please read on for contest rules and details.

I. CONTEST TITLE:Omni Mecha: Crossover

II. CONTEST OBJECTIVE:

To be creative in conceptualizing, modifying, painting and detailing a Mobile Suit that is used by a pilot from another timeline in the whole Gundam series.

III. RULES AND REGULATIONS:

1. Original Bandai Gunpla kits ONLY in all scales and grades, including SD.
2. Be creative. Build may be built stock or modified as long as it can be CLEARLY IDENTIFIED of an existing Mobile Suit (example: An RX-78-2 Gundam, however modified, including its pilot-preferred weapon, can easily be identified as still an RX-78-2, but with a mixed timeline look in color, weaponry, and pilot identification)

Further examples:

a. Strike Freedom (Gundam Seed Destiny) in TransAm Mode (OO Gundam)
b. Zaku Warrior (Gundam Seed Destiny) in Principality of Zeon markings and weaponry (U.C. 0079/OYW)
c. RX-178 Gundam MK II (Z Gundam) that is piloted by Trowa Barton (Gundam Wing) sporting the orange/red/white scheme of the Gundam Heavy Arms and equipped with the gatling gun.
d. Gundam Leopard (Gundam X) with Titans (AOZ) markings and color scheme.
e. Mobile Ginn (Gundam Seed) piloted by Char Aznable or Johnny Ridden (OYW) with their preferred Mobile Suit color, weaponry and markings.
f. Unicorn Gundam (Gundam Unicorn) sporting a Blue Frame color scheme and equipped with Tactical Arms and Serpent Tail markings of Gai Murakumo (Gundam Seed Astray).
g. Ramba Ral’s (OYW) Gouf Ignited (Gundam Seed Destiny) with the Ral’s color and mark.
h. Bushido’s (OO Gundam) Efreet (OYW) with the preferred color and weaponry.

Note again, these are examples, use your creativity, and you can “reserve” your ideas by posting your planned project/entry so that others will know and for pre-screening purposes if your planned entry fits the contest rules. You can also enter MS Units piloted by a pilot within the same timeline (example: Char’s/Quatrro Zeta Gundam, Amuro’s Zaku, Athrun’s Strike Gundam, Hallelujah’s Flag) Mobile Suits already produced are no longer allowed (example: Char’s Gundam 1.5, Heine Westenfluss’ Destiny Gundam)

3. No diorama base is allowed, however, you can use Flight Stands or Action Base without painting or detailing it.
4. Maximum of three (3) entries per participant.
5. Minimum of ten (10) entries to open the contest.

IV. CRITERIA FOR JUDGING:

1. Basic Assembly Skills (absence of mold lines, flash, inappropriate gaps, proper parts alignment, completeness, absence of excess adhesive marks) — 30%
2. Painting (smooth paint texture, unless for obvious reasons, absence of overspray, brush streaks, complete paint coverage, color line separation from masking/brushing/spraying, overall color combination) – 30%
3. Detailing (includes parts modifications, paint detailing like shading and paneling, weathering, proper decal/marking positioning and usage) – 20%
4. Presentation (At first glance, is the Mobile Suit can easily be identified? How about the pilot using it in Crossover mode? Is the model impressive? Even to the audience? Impact varies from distance. The model may look good from a distance but turns out ugly at close-up) – 20%

PRIZES:
